Tour of the Realm 2011

On Friday, 29 April the GBMCC 2011 Tour of the Realm departed from Cardiff at 9:15am in the morning headed for its first night stop over in Liverpool.

There was a core group of eight of riders making the trip around the UK,  joined by friends from Wales, the North West, the North East and East Midlands along the way.

09.30am - Depart Cardiff
11.00am - Arrive for Morning Coffee West End Cafe, Llandovery, SA20 0AR www.westendcafe.co.uk
11.30am - Depart cafe
12.30pm - Arrive The Red Lion, Woebley, HR4 8SE - were we were joined by a strong team form the North Wales and North West region led by Mark & Steve.
13.45pm - Left the Red Lion headed for the Liverpool YHA Hostel via Bala Lake and the Mersey Tunnel.

Saturday, 30 APRIL 2011

Depart Liverpool headed for Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Our route took us North through the Lake District and then East to Newcastle via Hadrians Wall.

In the evening we stayed at the Holiday Inn in downtown Newcastle where we were joined by local member Roger for a night on the town.

Sunday, 1 May 2011

Leave Newcastle headed South for the Hebdon Bridge. Kathryn led an exciting 172 mile route south taking in:

- The Hartside Pass high in the Pennines

- Alston market town over 1000 feet above sea level

- High Force Waterfall

- Sedbergh book town

- The Yorkshire Dales

- The Settle railway and three peaks
